All students enrolled in Mrs. Mack’s drama/film~video production classes are required to read and write daily. It states in our school handbook that all teachers are “teachers of reading.” Well, we are teachers of writing, too. Students spend so much time on the computer that penmanship and basic spelling abilities suffer. Handwriting must be practiced. If your child is interested in play writing, film script writing, poetry writing or authoring children’s books the ability to write well is paramount. Please make sure that your student has pencil, paper, white-out for corrections, and plenty of rest before a rigorous day of learning at Southwind High School. Remember that students are required to write a five-paragraph essay during each nine week grading period. Please equip your student with what they need for daily success.

Please come in. A hearty welcome to The Curtain Call. This site-posting will feature monthly updates about drama and film/video events, student progress, performance information, production information, teacher concerns, curriculum information, etc. Blogging is a little new and we must be careful about ‘venting’ and keep observations and information professional. But, it’s also alot of fun and a challenging way to keep the community freshly up to date on what’s happening in “The Wind”…

Dear Friends of our Theater,
Performing Arts classes require presence at school in order for your child to be successful. Absenteeism is the first enemy of a good grade point average. It would be to their immediate advantage to be at school ready to work and on time everyday. If your child is absent, it is up to them to be proactive about making up missed work. Encourage your kids to write down assignments and due dates. Getting organized is vital to the success of every high school student.
Encourage your student to stay on task, study, turn in assignments when they’re due and then anticipate a report card that will positively reflect their efforts.
